100% of net proceeds from this event will go to We Are Family and Alliance for Full Acceptance (AFFA), and the event is fully donation-based.

NAVY YARD
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC
For our second installment of Happier Hours and in conjunction with the 4th annual Park Circle Pride festival, we’re bringing an infusion of music and movement to the Navy Yard. The morning will begin with a WerQout with acclaimed NYC-based movement facilitator, Ariel Padilla, who will lead participants through a HIIT workout with a focus on fun, community, and group choreography. Afterwards, we’ll come together for a one-day choir: an opportunity to sing in a choir for one day only; a celebration of song and the connective power of singing in harmony, and an opportunity to build community, make some new friends, and raise our powerfully diverse voices as one.
In celebration of Pride Month, this event’s featured piece will be “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga. A champion of LGBTQ+ rights and writer of many a queer anthem, it only seems fitting to sing one of her most impactful songs together this June. This iconic song is one of self-love, radical acceptance, and standing proudly in your truth. Our version will be arranged by our guest facilitator Kenter Davies, who leads One-Day Choirs in New York City with Gaia Music Collective.

KENTER DAVIES
Kenter Davies is a vocal arranger, music educator, and choral facilitator based in Brooklyn, New York. He dedicates his work to creating spaces where people can engage with music without the pressure of perfection, but full of complexity and joy. He highlights the journey over the destination and firmly believes in making music for music-making’s sake. Kenter facilitates One Day Choirs and other music events with the NYC-based creative community, Gaia Music Collective. His greatest love is leading others in song and having fun doing it!

ARIEL PADILLA
Ariel is a native New Yorker with 10+ years in the fitness and entertainment industry. Ariel is the founder and creator of WERQOUT, an instructor at SoulCycle in New York City and a Founding Instructor on the Equinox+ digital platform. You can also listen to him on SoulCycle Radio and can be seen across many TV/Film projects.
WERQOUT is a high-energy, HIIT workout with a focus on fun and community followed by group choreography for all ages and fitness levels.

The Vibe Creator.
That’s how Brandie describes herself as a DJ. Music is her passion, and her purpose is to create an electrifying experience and bring people together through irresistible beats. Her style of music is not confined to just one genre; her vast knowledge and understanding of different genres allows her to genuinely read a crowd and feed off of their energy, providing the perfect soundtrack for any occasion. With her creativity for her craft, infectious personality and pursuit of connection, it’s irresistible, startling, and almost addictive in the way she continuously pushes the limits of her truly unique sound.

Happier Hours will be one part fitness experience, one part group performance. Please wear sneakers and attire you feel comfortable moving in for a 30-minute sweat session. We recommend traveling light as there will not be secure lockers or cubbies to store personal belongings.

Sheet music and vocal recordings of each part will be available as learning resources before the event, and our collective goal is to practice the parts ahead of time so that we might come into the gathering with some familiarity with the music! This way we can spend our time together really diving into the richness of music-making, rather than trying to teach the parts one by one. We don't need to know our parts by heart by any means (and you definitely don’t have to memorize it), but the stronger we are in our parts coming in, the more we'll be able to really dig into the fun stuff!

There is ample parking throughout the Navy Yard. We suggest the large space outside of The Drop In’s warehouse or the spaces/parking lot behind Celadon warehouse.

Absolutely not! Our goal is for Happier Hours to be a space where you feel safe and encouraged to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. We promise you won’t regret it!

Feel free to participate in any of the activities and events during Park Circle Pride week in North Charleston. The first event begins Tuesday, June 4 at 5pm and lasts through Sunday, June 9. Park Circle Pride benefits Alliance for Full Acceptance (AFFA) and We Are Family.

This event takes place indoors and is rain or shine. All proceeds from the event will be donated to two incredible local organizations – We Are Family and AFFA. Tickets are non-refundable but may be transferred to a new attendee.

Your ticket to Happier Hours includes a 30-minute WERQOUT with Ariel Padilla and a one-day choir experience led by Kenter Davies of Gaia Music Collective along with beverages provided by Sèchey x Kin Euphorics. Food trucks and merchandise will be available for purchase and you will enjoy beats by DJ B.
